I am an Auburn, California-based photographer who specializes in advertising, editorial, and stock photography.I was born and raised in Boise, ID. At the age of 13, I began shooting and printing my own work. From the beginning I was interested in the design of the image as much as the content of what I was photographing. My parents were ahead of their time in terms of their progressive ideas about art and architecture. My father was an architect/ interior design professional, who also painted and dabbled in photography and my mother had a unique eye for appreciating form, composition, and beauty in the everyday. Our homes, designed by my father, were filled with mid-century furniture, art, and architecture. In my early 20s, I moved to Portland, Oregon, to pursue a career in commercial photography, starting out assisting for C.B. Harding in a busy commercial studio. C.B. was an incredibly versatile, detail-oriented photographer, able to shoot everything from products and food to fashion and architecture. He never hesitated to share his gear, time, and knowledge generously. After 6 years, I transitioned into freelance work for many other photographers in Portland and 4 years after that returned to Boise, Idaho, to raise my family. During the early 90s, I began working full time for myself as a commercial photographer, Boise had a small but robust economy that featured a number of Fortune 500 companies. I developed relationships with local and national agencies as well as a base of direct local clients. My clients included law firms, ad agencies, design and architecture firms, theater groups, opera companies, hi-tech companies, state agencies, food and product manufacturers, power, grocery, and real estate companies, state lottery, venture capitalists, healthcare, travel, and telecommunications.
